On March 15, 2024, the LAU School of Pharmacy signed a memorandum of understanding with Spread Life, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to spreading love and assistance to communities in need.

Spread Life, known for its impactful distribution of medicine and support services for vulnerable population, will now collaborate with the School of Pharmacy to offer pharmacy students a unique service learning experience to foster their personal and professional development as part of the school’s co-curriculum led by Dr. Aline Bou Maroun.

Pharmacy students will participate in chronic medication preparation for patients and experience direct patient interactions during patient home visits. Students will also support humanitarian activities of the organization such as preparation and distribution of pantry boxes and meals.

The agreement speaks to one of the pillars set out in LAU’s Fourth Strategic Plan to “Educate for Impact” by “Offering students the opportunity to engage in diverse co-curricular experiences”.

This initiative is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals, namely goal 2 “End hunger” and goal 3 “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being”.

The LAU School of Pharmacy looks forward to the positive outcomes this collaboration will bring, further enriching the educational journey of pharmacy students and extending the collective reach to serve the community.
