Annual Preceptors Appreciation Event 2015
The LAU School of Pharmacy held its annual preceptors appreciation event on November 3, 2015 at the Le Royal Hotel, Dbayeh, Lebanon. Around 70 preceptors from the community and hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries, and NGOs were in attendance.
The event was social and educational. It celebrated the accomplishments of pharmacy professionals and honored preceptors for their valuable contributions to the school’s programs and students’ education. The program included opening remarks by Dr. Lamis Karaoui, Director of Experiential Education; welcome note by Dr. Imad Btaiche, Dean of the School of Pharmacy; distribution of the preceptors of the year awards; and a presentation on pharmacoeconomics. The evening concluded with a dinner.
Recipients of the preceptors of the year awards for 2014-2015 were: APPE preceptor Kevin Donahue, Pharm.D., BCPS, from Houston Medical Hospital in Houston, Texas, United States; and IPPE preceptor Ghada Khayat, Pharm.D., owner of Pharmacie Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. The awardees were selected by students and the awards were presented in forms of plaques, in recognition of preceptors who have shown exemplary commitment and exceptional contributions to the education, mentoring and role modeling for P3 and P4 students during their experiential education.
