Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency
This is a joint postgraduate year 1 (PGY1) pharmacy residency program between the Lebanese American University (LAU) School of Pharmacy and LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital
This program provides pharmacy residents with advanced hands-on experiences in clinical practice, education, and research, along with building professional, management and leadership skills. Examples of rotations include internal medicine, critical care, cardiology, anticoagulation, infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, health system pharmacy administration and emergency medicine. Additional opportunities exist in the required participation in research, writing a clinical review, and contributing to pharmacy students’ education.

Mission
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program will prepare pharmacists with advanced competencies in clinical practice, education, research and practice management, combined with the necessary professional and leadership skills to impact the profession of pharmacy.
Vision
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program will be recognized nationally and regionally for its excellence in developing highly-competent pharmacy professionals as appraised by their practice skills, scholarly pursuits and leadership in pharmacy.

Requirements
PharmD degree (ACPE-accredited); licensed/eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Lebanon, Lebanese citizenship, and interview.
Application material: letter of intent (personal/professional goals and interest in program), curriculum vitae, three letters of reference completed via PhoORCAS (at least one letter from a clinical preceptor), and academic transcripts. All application material will be accepted via PhORCAS.

Centrally located in the cosmopolitan district of Achrafieh in Beirut, Lebanon, LAU Medical Center-RH is a private LAU-owned and operated teaching hospital. LAU Medical Center-RH currently has 197 beds with an ongoing expansion plan. It is the primary teaching hospital for LAU’s schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing. Pharmacy practice faculty and preceptors at LAU Medical Center-RH are actively engaged in distinct interprofessional collaborative practice model. Postgraduate Year Two Pharmacy Residency
In July 2026, the Lebanese American University School of Pharmacy will launch the first international PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management. It will also be the first and only PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Program in Lebanon.
This is a joint postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency program in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management between the Lebanese American University (LAU) School of Pharmacy and LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital
This program provides PGY1 pharmacy residency graduates with specialized training and expertise across clinical practice, teaching, and leadership. The program encompasses the fields of clinical practice, medication safety, leadership, quality improvement and anticoagulation stewardship and is designed to develop expert skills in caring for patients experiencing or at risk of thrombosis and bleeding. Upon successful completion, the resident will have expertise in the clinical management of the many therapies utilized to prevent and treat thrombosis and bleeding. Residents will be able to develop, implement and advance system-level improvements to measurably improve the safety and quality of patient care, and will be prepared to effectively educate clinicians and non-clinicians regarding these high-risk agents. Examples of rotations include Stewardship I-Introduction, Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Hematology/Oncology, Medication Safety/Informatics, Stewardship II- Vascular, and Stewardship III- Cardiology. Longitudinal rotations will include Special Coags Lab, Periprocedural antithrombotics clinic, Staffing, Research and Committee Leadership. Other electives are also available.

The institution is distinguished for its pharmacy practice model, comprehensive stroke center, oncology department, vascular division and cardiology department with plans for a comprehensive heart institute in 2026.
